Partum the Interruption is a clinical podcast from SafePartum that examines high-acuity perinatal cases to better understand what happened, why it happened, and what clinicians can learn from the physiology, clinical decision-making, and systems of care involved.

We are looking for cases involving severe maternal morbidity, critical illness, major complications, or near-miss events where a detailed review of the medical record can provide meaningful clinical and educational insight.

What Types of Cases Are We Looking For?

Examples include, but are not limited to:

• Severe obstetric hemorrhage or massive transfusion
• Unplanned peripartum hysterectomy or cesarean hysterectomy
• Placenta percreta
• Septic shock
• Amniotic fluid embolism
• Myocardial infarction
• Spontaneous Coronary Artery Dissection
• Peripartum cardiomyopathy
• Aortic Dissection
• Pulmonary embolism or other major thromboembolic events
• Stroke
• Eclampsia or severe hypertensive complications
• Acute fatty liver of pregnancy
• Cardiac arrest
• Mechanical circulatory support (ECMO, Impella or VAD)
• Other severe maternal morbidity or near-miss events

A Complete Medical Record Is Required

A complete medical record is required for consideration. This allows our clinical team to reconstruct the timeline, understand the clinical context, evaluate laboratory and imaging data, and accurately assess the care provided.

Please submit the most complete record available, including relevant records from pregnancy, labor and delivery, hospitalization, ICU care, procedures, laboratory and imaging studies, consultations, and subsequent care, as applicable.

What Happens After You Submit?

Submission triggers a clinical case-review process. Our team will review the records to determine whether the case is appropriate for Partum the Interruption.

This review may require substantial time, particularly for complex or lengthy medical records. Submission does not guarantee that your case will be selected.

We will notify you if, after reviewing the record, we determine that we would like to move forward with your case.

If your case is selected, we will discuss the case with you and explain how the story may be presented before the episode.

How Your Information Will Be Used

By submitting your records, you authorize the SafePartum clinical team to review the medical records you provide for the purpose of evaluating and developing your case for potential educational use on Partum the Interruption.

If your case is selected, information from the medical record will be used to develop an accurate clinical narrative and, subject to the applicable authorization and consent process, discuss the case on the podcast and in related educational or promotional materials.

We will take steps to protect your privacy. We will not intentionally include direct HIPAA identifiers or other information that would unnecessarily identify you.

We will also avoid including sensitive personal information that is not relevant to the clinical story, including sexual history or other intimate details unrelated to the educational purpose of the case.

Clinical details may be generalized, omitted, or otherwise modified when appropriate to protect privacy while preserving the clinical and educational value of the case.

Important Privacy Disclaimer

Although we will make reasonable efforts to protect your privacy, we cannot guarantee that a case will be completely unidentifiable. Rare or highly unusual clinical events may contain details that could allow someone familiar with the circumstances to recognize the patient or family.

Your Authorization and Right to Withdraw

Your submission authorizes our clinical team to review and evaluate the records you provide for potential inclusion in Partum the Interruption. This authorization is intended to allow our team to invest the time necessary to conduct a meaningful clinical review.

Submission does not constitute a guarantee that your story will be published or that an episode will be produced.

You may withdraw your authorization in writing at any time before your case is published or otherwise publicly released, subject to the limitations described in the applicable authorization.

Please understand that our team may have already spent substantial time reviewing, analyzing, and preparing your records before you withdraw.

Once an episode or other content has been publicly released, however, we may not be able to retrieve or control copies that have already been distributed, downloaded, shared, reposted, or otherwise reproduced.

If your case is selected for the podcast, we will ask you to complete a separate authorization/consent process for the public presentation of your case before recording or publication.

This submission form is not monitored for urgent medical concerns and is not an appropriate method for seeking medical advice or emergency assistance.
